What to Expect

Starting Therapy

Beginning therapy can feel uncertain. The first session is focused on understanding what has brought you to seek support, your current concerns, and any relevant background. There is no expectation to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels manageable.

The First Session

In our first appointment, we will:
- Discuss what you would like help with
- Explore relevant history and patterns
- Clarify your goals for therapy
- Discuss how we might work together

Ongoing Sessions

Ongoing sessions focus on developing insight, building practical skills, and gradually shifting patterns that may be contributing to distress. Sessions are typically held weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs.

Telehealth

All sessions are delivered via secure video.
Telehealth has been shown to be effective for many psychological concerns and allows flexibility while maintaining therapeutic depth.

Confidentiality

What you discuss in therapy is confidential, with limited exceptions required by law (such as risk of serious harm).

Medicare & Payment

If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare rebates can be processed on the day of payment. See the Fees & Medicare page for more information.

When Therapy Might Not Be the Right Fit

If at any point it becomes clear that another service may better meet your needs, this will be discussed openly and appropriate referrals can be provided.
